From October 13Tommaso Calabro Gallery is thrilled to announce its participation in the SPOTLIGHT section at FRIEZE MASTERS in London with a selection of works by Milanese artist Remo Bianco (1922-1988).
Creator of ever-changing cycles of works, Bianco experimented with the most diverse art forms, attracting the interest of some of the leading gallerists, artists and critics of his time. Yet, his lack of a coherent style and non-linear artistic path did not ensure him with long-term appreciation.
Organized with the support of the Remo Bianco Foundation, Milan, our booth in the Spotlight section will foster the rediscovery of one of the pioneers of Italian modern art by presenting the first monographic display of Bianco’s oeuvre outside Italy after his last exhibition at the Paris Galerie Lara Vincy in 1987. The selection will bring together examples from two of Bianco’s most significant series: the Tableaux dorés, paintings in one or two colours overlapped with a grid of gilded tesserae, and the Sacchettini-Testimonianze, panels or canvases hung with plastic bags filled with everyday objects.
